In America you should never order Pinot Grigio, and as Sommelier who also has worked in wine with wineries in Napa Valley, Sonoma, Mendocino, Paso Robles, Sierra Foothills and Santa Cruz, has an MBA from Wine Country and has been on business trips to wineries all around Northern Italy, and now lives in Wine Country in France… I say no, don’t simply order what you like. Furthermore, Pinot Grigio is oftentimes garbage wine in America, and unless someone actually knows what they are doing, or has help from someone that does, they are best served avoiding this varietal all together.
