Donahue III & Levitt provides a very strong academic case for this theory in 2001, and Levitt & Dubner sort of “popularized it” in Freakonomics a few years later. In Freakonomics they actually state that economically speaking, abortion is still not validated despite the effect on crime. But as you will see in my editor response, I agree completely that the issue is unwanted children. No society should ever tolerate that there are unwanted children, it should be the number one priority to find a means to provide for and nurture all children. As Obama said, “if we can’t protect our kids, then what good are we?”
