The point of my article is that Europe is not socialist, the EU is not socialist, and Britain certainly is socialist. My example about the Nordic model is used because so many pundits and talking heads love to talk about how great everything is in Scandinavia, and that’s why America should be socialist. But what happens in the Nordic Countries is not socialist, it is free-market capitalism. The U.S. is extremely free-market. Capitalism as an economic model calls for the government to protect the rights of ownership and regulate waste. Capitalism is a free-market model, but it is not the only free-market model. Just because there is state intervention, doesn’t mean it isn’t capitalism, in fact, that must exist for capitalism to exist.
