Well, I think people that might work hard at it tend to welcome the compliment, however when someone puts their focus elsewhere and received a compliment anyway, maybe then it is unsettling. If we are complimented for our writing, then we receive it well because we work hard at it, however, if we were complimented for something that we never think about, it may be uncomfortable. It’s like when I get complimented for my British accent… it’s really odd, because I definitely don’t have one, and I certainly don’t work at it.
